10月9日，全國(guó)社會(huì)保障基金理事會(huì)與美國(guó)北美信托銀行和花旗銀行簽署了社�；�金境外投資全球托管協(xié)議。成立于2000年的社�；�金理事會(huì)，主要負(fù)責(zé)管理大部分國(guó)有企業(yè)的養(yǎng)老金，截至2005年底，其資產(chǎn)總額已達(dá)到2010.2億元人民幣。

另外，社保基金可用“Social Security Fund”來(lái)表達(dá)，而“養(yǎng)老保險(xiǎn)金”相應(yīng)的英文是“endowment insurance”。日常所說(shuō)的“三險(xiǎn)一金”，即medical care insurance（醫(yī)療保險(xiǎn)）；endowment insurance（養(yǎng)老保險(xiǎn)）；unemployment insurance（失業(yè)保險(xiǎn)）；housing fund（住房公積金）。
