    1. Chimerica

    中美國

    The intertwined economies of China and the United States, which together dominate the world economy. Popularized by Niall Ferguson in his book "The Ascent of Money."

    "Chimerica" 是哈佛大學(xué)教授弗格森在他的書《錢的升值》中生造的新詞。我們可以看出它是"China"中國，和"America"美國的組合。意思是在全球金融危機(jī)中，中國成為可以和美國匹敵的強(qiáng)國、并主導(dǎo)世界經(jīng)濟(jì)。

    2. Mancession

    男人衰退

    A recession that affects men more than women. Also "hecession". It turns out that men have been hardest-hit by job losses in the last year, largely because they dominate the sectors where layoffs have been most widespread. So as the total number of available jobs has gone down, the share of remaining jobs held by women has increased

    這又是一個(gè)今年涌現(xiàn)的新詞。由"man"男人和"recession"衰退組成，可以簡單翻譯為"男人的衰退".因?yàn)橛凶C據(jù)表明，金融危機(jī)對男性的影響遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)大于女性。男性所從事的工作受經(jīng)濟(jì)衰退影響嚴(yán)重，而女性卻能在失敗后很快找到新工作。

    3. gaymarry, gay-marry

    To marry someone of the same sex. Also used hyperbolically to mean to form an unconventional relationship, as in, "I love my new cellphone so much I want to gay-marry it."

    當(dāng)然從字面意思上理解就是"和同性結(jié)婚"的意思，不過這個(gè)詞后來也被廣泛運(yùn)用為"過分喜歡某物"的意思。造句：我太喜歡我的手機(jī)了，我要和它來個(gè)gaymarry!

    4. GM=Government Motor

    A nickname for General Motors, which is now majority owned by the federal government.

    5. social distancing

    Staying away from other people so as not to catch or spread the flu.

    "social distance"這個(gè)詞本來用以形容不同社會團(tuán)體之間保持的距離，而拜甲型H1N1流感全球爆發(fā)所賜，該詞組最新的意思是"和其他人保持安全距離，以防止傳染流感".

    6. sexting

    性短信

    The sending of sexual messages or pictures by mobile telephone.

    由"sex"性，和"texting"發(fā)短信兩個(gè)單詞拼接而成。該詞之所以流行是因?yàn)橹�名高爾夫球運(yùn)動員伍茲和他的情婦們所發(fā)的性短信曝光。

    7. ununbium

    新物質(zhì)

    The temporary name of a newly foundelement, Uub for short. It comes from the Latin for the element's number, 112.

    9. green shoots

    Signs of an economic recovery or of a company's financial turnaround.

    "黑泥"

    A pronunciation of H1N1, the swine flu virus.
